Ongoing Learning for Facilitators

For AWA leaders who want to deepen learning on specific subjects.

Quarterly, AWA offers post-certificate trainings online.

The groups are most often scheduled Saturdays from 1–4pm Eastern, though you can confirm the times in the list below. They are open to anyone who’s ever been trained in the AWA Method.

These sessions explore a variety of topics relevant to seasoned workshop facilitators in a small group setting. Most are capped at 12, so they fill up quickly. If you’d like to be added to a waiting list, you can reach out to Maureen directly, maureen@amherstwriters.org.

The fee is $30 per session, with a discount of $10 automatically applied if you are a logged-in Affiliate who has paid dues to AWA.

Also quarterly, we offer virtual Water Coolers for AWA leaders.

These aren’t trainings, they are informal meet-ups. If all the Post-Certificate Trainings are full and you’d still like to gather with AWA leaders to talk about facilitation, these gatherings might help bridge the gap. Water Coolers are open to all AWA-certified leaders, regardless of affiliate status, and are free to participate in.

Twice a year, in Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, we offer our Launchpad program,

These peer-mentoring groups help leaders achieve workshop- and writing-related goals. These groups, which meet 6 times over the course of a month or two, cost $75 and come with a $75 credit toward your next Affiliate Dues payment. Launchpads serve as a space to share resources, solve problems, and receive support. Those will be on the list below as well.
