Professional Development and Writing Retreat

September 29 at 8:00 am - October 1 at 5:00 pm EDT

AWA’s Professional Development and Writing Retreat returns this fall! The theme for this year’s retreat is “The Power of Writing Together,” and we’ll gather AWA-certified leaders (anyone who has attended the AWA Training Program) both in-person and online.

Visit this page of our website for more information or REGISTER NOW to join us at Jericho House near Niagara Falls or for our hybrid sessions online.

Not an AWA workshop leader? We’d still love for you to join us for our Keynote Speech by Ellen Bass!

Hiya. I’m curious about the self-guided retreat. How specifically is that different from the regular on-site retreat?

      Hi Jill,
People can stay on at the retreat centre or other lodgings they’ve chosen. It won’t be like the conference with organized presentations, learning opportunities, etc. Meals will be provided. If people want to organize small writing groups together that can be done informally, using the breakout rooms. But the time will be mostly free, to nap, walk, read, write… in otherwords, self-directed. 🙂 We will probably organize a trip to Niagara falls sometime during these days. We’ll compile a list of local services for massage, spa, yoga etc. But it won’t be like the conference. Hope that helps.

Hello. I am curious to know when the keynote speaker will be announced. That will be helpful info.

      Hi Beth,

We actually have announced her: it’s Ellen Bass! We just haven’t updated this page of our website yet. I’ll make sure we do so soon with bio information as well as the subject of her talk.

      Thanks,
      Katie
