We understand circumstances change, and the unexpected occurs. We appreciate notice of cancellation as far in advance as possible.
Participant Cancellations
If you have registered for a Power of Story workshop and are unable to attend, email our Admin Coordinator before the workshop at powerofstory@amherstwriters.org.
With advance notification of a cancellation, we offer credit in the same dollar amount, which can be used toward a future Power of Story registration fee. If a refund is requested instead of using the credit, a $5 processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount to cover transaction fees paid to our payment processor.
Alternatively, you can donate your registration fee to the Power of Story program. Please email us to tell us that’s what you’d like to do. Donations like yours help us fund spaces for writers who otherwise couldn’t afford to join. You’ll have our thanks and gratitude.
AWA/Power of Story Cancellations
AWA reserves the right to cancel any workshop due to unforeseen circumstances, including but not limited to facilitator emergency or illness, low enrollment, or technical difficulties. In the event of a workshop cancellation by AWA, all registered participants will receive a full refund of their registration fee.
Why Advance Notice Matters
As a not-for-profit organization, we rely on you to help us serve as many writers as possible. By alerting us to your cancellation in advance, we can:
- Open spaces to waitlisted writers so they receive the benefits of writing in community
- Reduce costs by hiring the right number of facilitators for the group size (allowing us to offer more workshops)
- Have bursary funds available for everyone with financial need.
