AWA Training Application

If you’re interested in receiving financial aid: please note the application below requires a $500 deposit. If you’re not able to afford the $500 deposit, we understand. Navigate to our Event Calendar and apply for the training of your first choice there, using “pay offline” to submit your application without a payment.

After submitting the application there (or below, if you are able to afford the deposit but not the full tuition), then please fill out our financial aid request form by March 15, 2026.

The following optional questions are used for planning purposes and to provide us with demographic information about the members of our community. This demographic information helps us in our work toward equity. AWA recognizes the value of having facilitators who represent the range of communities that we engage in creative writing. We encourage people from equity-seeking groups to apply.

Writing Sample

We ask that you provide a sample of your writing: up to three poems, journal entries, or an excerpt from a longer work. Please send no more than ten pages total for any of these. Your writing helps the training leaders begin to know your writing voice and interests. Please upload those documents below.

Payment

The $500 deposit is a part of your application. This deposit can be refunded, minus a $50 admin fee, until 2 months before the training. The remaining balance after the deposit is paid, unless you’ve been offered financial assistance, is $1250.
