Retreat Registration 2023

The theme of this year’s Professional Development and Writing Retreat for AWA-certified leaders is “The Power of Writing Together.”

Workshops in this method reliably create safe and generative spaces for all writers, but are often used particularly to free silenced and marginalized voices. We are thrilled that Ellen Bass will be giving a keynote on September 30, included in the retreat and also open to the public for just $10, on the topic, Transforming Trauma through Art. Her talk will be of interest to anyone writing their way through difficult subject matter, or finding traumatic material surfacing in their writing.

For the first time in several years we’ll be gathering in person as well as online for this event.  The in-person retreat will be held at Jericho House, about half an hour from Niagara Falls, on the Canadian side.  Dates are:

  • In-person and online:  September 29 to October 1 plus more online sessions the following weekend, October 7 & 8.
  • Staying on in-person for a self-guided writing retreat (optional): October 1 to October 4
  • Online only:  Some sessions (including the Keynote) September 30 to October 1, and more online sessions the following weekend, October 7 & 8.

If you want to join us in person, please add accommodations and/or meals at Jericho House in Wellfleet, Ontario. Just the Ellen Bass keynote will allow you to watch her talk live or recorded after the retreat.
Retreat Costs
The online retreat fee is non-refundable. We’ll share the recordings afterwards for you to view anytime. Up to 2/3rds of the in-person fees are refundable. After 9/22, no refunds are available for the the in-person fees.
