This year, in Write Around the World we’re piloting a new series called Power of Story.
These are workshops intended to bring the experience of the AWA to specific populations whose voices are too often unheard or discounted. To reach these writers, we are partnering with non-profit organizations and specific communities to help us connect with participants.
We intend to continue this model after Write Around the World as well.
If you’re a coordinator of a social service agency, a social worker, an art therapist or work in some other way with a group who would benefit by recognizing the Power of their own Stories, and you would like to organize a session (you provide the participants and the time/date that works for you, we provide a AWA-trained workshop leader), please email katie@amherstwriters.org with the subject line Power of Story.
Power of Story Sessions this May:
May 20, 1-3pm EST: a special session for applicants for the 2022 Indigenous Voices Scholarship for August AWA Training to experience the AWA Method in a virtual workshop with trainers, board and scholarship committee members. A place to access our own unique voices and share them in a safe and supportive virtual circle where craft can be developed organically and all voices matter.
