This year the theme of the conference is “The Power of Writing Together”.
The theme for this year’s writing retreat is The Power of Writing Together, and we could not be more pleased to offer keynotes, panels, sessions, and workshops exploring how our writing, and our writing together, can impact both the individual and the bigger world.
Our keynote speaker, Ellen Bass (author of the acclaimed poetry collection, Indigo, as well as Mules of Love, and The Courage to Heal, among others), is already planning her address; you won’t want to miss it.
Schedule for the Virtual Conference/Retreat
September 30 is our Hybrid Presentation day.
Formal conference sessions will happen from 11:00 a.m EDT on Saturday till 4:30 pm. EDT Saturday.
Ellen Bass will deliver her keynote speech and do a Q&A on Saturday from 1:00 to 2:30 EDT/10:00 – 11:30 PDT.
The following weekend, October 7 and 8 we will be offering at least 9 workshops in 3 different streams: the Business of our AWA Practices, Social Justice/Writing as Transformation, and Writer’s Craft workshops.

What is included in the online-only retreat?
Sessions offered during the online-only retreat will equally cover business, craft, and social consciousness topics.

Will the sessions be available for viewing online after the retreat?
Yes! All online sessions will be recorded and can be viewed after the retreat’s conclusion FOR ALL REGISTERED RETREATANTS. If you cannot make a session, you can view the workshop later through your AWA profile.
If you were not registered for the retreat, the sessions will be behind a paywall – you will be able to pay for the virtual conference retroactively to access them.
